About Rita Omokha

Rita Omokha is an award-winning Nigerian American journalist whose reporting on policing, race, and vulnerable communities has appeared in Vanity Fair, ELLE, The Guardian, The Washington Post, New York Magazine, WIRED, and other publications. She is the author of Resist: How a Century of Young Black Activists Shaped America (Macmillan, 2024), a Publishers Weekly Notable Book of History. The recipient of the Pulitzer Traveling Fellowship, she graduated at the top of Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism's class of 2020. She is an adjunct professor at Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism and the founder and executive director of Her Climb — a free college access and career pathways program for underserved high school girls in New York City.
